Finally! Finally, I got our Regional Center to call and discuss getting my kids into services again. I was told that because Janie is going to turn five, she won’t be eligible for ABA services through them. Jimmy, however, is eligible for assistance and can start soon. He was also given a referral for Head Start, which I am so excited about. I will have Jane in Kindergarten and hopefully Jimmy in preschool.
Unfortunately, Jimmy is going on a waiting list and may not get into preschool immediately. I am hoping that his having the referral from Regional Center will get him in when it starts. They have both regressed. I am concerned for Jane. I am concerned I won’t be able to get her into some kind of service. She has regressed with potty training. We go through about ten pairs of underwear a day. She holds it until she is going to pee her pants and then sometimes runs for it. Other times she just pee’s her pants. She also poops her pants. It’s like she doesn’t recognize when she needs to poop. It is very frustrating.
I worry that if she doesn’t get her potty training under control, she won’t be able to attend kindergarten. It saddens me that our Regional Center has no ABA services for kids over 5. Autism continues as they get older. The problems change, and they still need help maneuvering through their lives. I will have to research where I can get her the help she needs.
Especially since I will have two next year over five and not getting ABA services, do anyone of you
