I never thought I would get a house with a pool. When I found the house of my dreams it included a pool so it was a bonus. I love that I have a pool and look forward to having pool parties with family and teaching the kids how to swim. It may be a little difficult with Jimmy, he doesn’t like the water. Getting him to take a bath is hard I can only imagine how hard it’s going to be to get him in the pool. It’s going to take a lot of trust on his part and patience on mine.
My dream home also came with a run down tennis court that the kids ride their bikes in and other activities. It is safe as there is fencing all around and I have a lock on the back gate that goes out to our walnut orchard. ( yes, another perk ) The net on the tennis court is run down and falling apart and I need to take it down. The kids love playing there and I love it because it gives me a small break. I don’t have to be out with them the whole time.
Back to the pool. I knew that I was going to need to keep it clean and clorinate it. I wasn’t prepared for the pump to break just before the tempurature rose. I knew that there would be some cost I just didn’t think it would start from the get go. I’m now over a thousand dollars in to the fun addition.
There are other costs that go with having a large yard like a lawn mover, weed eater, leaf blower and a few things that are not jumping out at me to write. Hopefully the surprise costs with slow down and we get all settled and happy. Don’t get me wrong. I knew that there would be costs and I knew that I was going to have a rather large up keep but so soon after buying?
I love me new dream home. It is so homey and comfy and I feel like I have been here forever. The kids have room to play when they decide to play ourside and the potential for the years to come is awesome. I love the area we live in and there is no chance for a wild fire to consume our home let alone our whole town. I don’t have to freak out when I hear helicopters or planes flying over head. It is less stressful and so much more enjoyable. I’ll take the extra costs for the comfort that I have living here. That doesn’t mean I won’t complain a little here and there.
The kids sleep all night long here. They are at ease here and seem to love their surroundings. I worry about our neighbors however. One of the kids sensory issues is screaming. They both scream at the top of their lungs in a high pitch scream. They scream when mad, sad, hurt, fighting with other and when they are having fun. They scream. I’m sure our neighbors hate it. I hate it, I don’t think I’ll ever get use to it and I hope that it calms as they get older. Truthfully, it has gotten worse as they get older but I do have hope
I hope you all have a great week. I’ll keep you updated on my pool woes.
